My latest short story, the sequel to award-winning steampunk Amelia's Revolution was released last month through my publisher. What started out as a quest to write steampunk with a diverse cast has also transformed into an attempt to represent Lenni Lenape culture in an authentic way, and to discover what other Native American cultures really felt about people who fall outside the gender norm. I wrote a blog post about it on my publisher's site here.
I plan on two more stories for this series. The next will be told from the viewpoint of Amelia's girlfriend Nadine, and the final story will be told by Two-Spirit's boyfriend Strong Arrow

My Secret Pain will be released August 4! It is YA Contemporary. Dustin and his best friend Kadie are both secretly gay, and a lot of people assume they are a couple because they spend so much time together. And because Dustin is black and Kadie is white, there are also a couple of jerks who have negative opinions about that. The story ends up much more lighthearted than I originally intended, but my goal was to leave readers in similar situations feeling hopeful. It does get better for teens, but unfortunately sometimes this doesn't happen until adulthood, after years of searching. For Dustin and Kadie, their friendship keeps them strong. You can read an excerpt of the story here.
